Going Green

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Although the color originally associated with this special day was blue, green has evolved to become its signature color as early as the 17th century. Of course the shamrock is the infamous association to this day; however other routines, customs and trinkets have arisen as a representation.

In the spirit of St. Patrick's day, we have collected our "Green" faves. We give you everything you need for the perfect celebration from what to wear, what to put on and where to go!

Lavender-Oh So Sweet

Lavender has widely been used as an added scent to bath oils, perfumes, infusers, etc. and is one of the sweetest smelling plants that can be found in gardens as well as in the wild. We encourage you to scent your wardrobe by adding the color (which is commonly referred to as lavender) to your spring collection.

Here are some of our favorites for Spring 2011.

This skinny belt by ASOS can be the perfect addition to a buttoned long shirt dress, high waisted skirt, or jeans.

Bring in the Spring weather with this tank dress by Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent. It's the perfect ensemble for an afternoon BBQ or lunch with the girls

Add a splash of color to your bracelets with this enamel bangle set. Accessories like these are a perfect contribution to an all black sleek look.

For those chilly nights, bring this adorable cardigan along for the ride.

All shades of lavender can definitely turn some heads. Time to go shopping!

Bonjour, Stella

Hidden in the heart of Sunset Junction rounding a little side street, Cafe Stella is one of a kind. I first fell in love with French cuisine and its traditions when I stepped into Little Door. Although I still love my original stomping ground, it was refreshing to come a cross such a quaint, inviting and elegant establishment on the East Side. Although I just stopped in for a drink and a small bite, I was wishing I had the time to stay longer.

Sitting comfortably at the bar (which has hooks for your purse BTW), I initially asked if they carried chablis. The bartender declined and suggested the house Sauvignon Blanc. As all good sommeliers should know, these wines can be a bit different depending on the origins. He was bold to suggest a house in comparison to the requested chablis, but he knew what he was doing. It was buttery and smooth, not too dry, not too sweet- a nice compliment to the tuna tartare. Our app arrived and as I lightly put some tuna on a garlic, buttered crustini, I added a sliver of avacado to my bite and savoured each moment. It's creamy, flavorful light texture was mouthwatering. Sometimes tuna tartare can be a bit like spicy tuna, which I hate (I'm a wuss when it comes to spicy food); however this dish was perfect. A hint of a citrus component ended each bite with a slight tang, urging the crave to continue.

As I finished my app, I looked around and saw the crowds pouring in, adding to the exciting ambience. The adequate space allowed the noise to travel evenly throughout the restaurant, permitting me to quietly finish my glass of wine. The decor made me feel like I had just hopped into a cafe in Paris, on my way to the Louvre for a late night art inspiration.

The prices match the caliber of cuisine and attention to detail. The service does as well. As  I exited, three employees wished us a good night and hoped to see us again soon.

Pretzel will be making a field trip very soon! Until then, Au revoir

Friendly Fashion

Fashion for the unfashionable can seem a bit daunting. We have found some of our best fashion friendly ideas and inspirations to help all the fashion feared! Tell us your insights and suggestions on what makes YOU feel fashionable!

Double Up:

Try doubling your jewelry. Instead of just wearing your watch (for functional purposes), add a few bangles for some extra bling or at least a bracelet that gives the effect:

Join the Sock Hop:

Add a colorful pair of socks to your favorite Mary Janes or tennies. The punch of color will make you happy every time you look down at your toes:

A New Pair:

Try wearing a new kind of pant. We all have our favorite pair of jeans, leggings, or dressy pants. These ALICE by Temperley Cargo Trousers have a wide waist band which pretty much looks good on anyone.

In Between the Seasons:

Now a days, the weather is changing daily-all over the world! You can include some of your fave's from other seasons into this season. Today in Los Angeles, it's really warm! Bring out those summer wedges and pair them with a solid tight and a mini skirt. Add a light weight scarf in case it gets chilly.

Think outside the box! If you think you can't pull something off, try it on because you never know what could be friendly to you!! xo
